Shamini works to promote Fairtrade-certified products among consumers. She established the first company in South East Asia dedicated to importing Fairtrade-certified
products. Shamini believes that Fairtrade is a brilliant way to ease the plight of poor farmers and plantation workers in Third World countries as it allows consumers to
choose non-exploitative consumer products.
In her non-fiction book, How to Win a Nobel Prize - A Stay-at-Home Mum's Guide,
Shamini promotes ethical and sustainable living and tries really hard to live by her own rules!
She also gives lectures on ethical consumerism and Fairtrade to organisations including supermarket chains and organic outlets.
